Time management can sometimes be very similar to following the rules and going off lists. But nothing could be further from the truth. Time management is there to take control of your own time. What do you want your day to look like? And what goals, visions and dreams do you want to achieve. And to be able to achieve that, time management is a very good option. These tips will help you understand how to organize your time efficiently. If you want to see how I plan my calender. Read my blogpost about: Timemanagement. Tips on how to become a bosslady about your time.
So here are 35 practical tips:
1. Getting up early: helps you start your day on your own terms. You decide how to go about your day.
2. Morning and an evening routine: for regularity and order. This also creates peace and peace in your head.
3. Prioritize & stick to it: this keeps you a good focus on what’s important. And what’s causing noise and chaos.
4. Creating a daily schedule: Working from a daily schedule is easier than a plan in your head. This gives you clarity and order.
5. Use a calendar/day planner
6. Use time blocks: This allows you to frame your time. You consciously think about it in advance. And it prevents you from losing time on things that are extra and weren’t on your schedule.
7. Learn to say no: Being able to say no will keep you working on the things you have in mind. It’s good to think about everything if it fits in with what you want to achieve and where you want to go with your goal(s).
8. Plan ahead: This way you can very well write out your plan in advance in 1x. Without having to go through this every day. Saves a lot of time (in between).
9. Time to plan your calendar: Schedule your own calendar once a week. Is 1 hour time for 1 whole week order and overview! I say win!!
10. Use a timer: This allows you to be more aware of the time your tasks take. And awareness is a very good one to see how you fill out your time.
11. Stop procrastinating/procrastinating: Procrastination can be eliminated by working from your calendar. Don’t think too much about it. Just do it!
12. Set reminders: this is a fun one for, say, your breaks.
13. Focus on one thing at a time: Looking at all your things you “have to do” can be overwhelming. But focus on one thing at a time. It’s like getting one win at a time.
14. Know when you can multitask. Sometimes there are tasks that you can merge. I usually apply multitasking with things I do in the household and, for example, listen to an instructive podcast.
15. Keep track of your time. This is to make yourself more aware about where your time is going.
16. Stop perfectionism and/or worry about it: making mistakes is always possible. And the good thing is, we will survive them! Perfectionism is usually about fear of failure or rejection. A good point to look at why you want it to be more perfect.
17. Delegate where you can. If someone else can do it, delegate it. It gives you time back.
18. Batch your work: The first thing I think about is folding all those laundry baskets clean laundry. I do that nicely during a nice movie on TV. In the context of multitasking, this works extremely well. And I’m going to brave the mountain in 1x instead of. a number of times a week.
19. Complete the biggest task first. This is going to take a huge burden off you. Because it’s the biggest on your list. Which in turn motivates you to tackle the following. Because the next one is smaller and you’ve already completed the first one.
20. Break big projects into small tasks. A big task can be overwhelming. But tackling small tasks also ensures that you also achieve your end goal.
21. Choose your top 3 every day: This is a nice morning routine to post. You can also review your own top 3 at the end of the day. And with that, you can monitor your success of the day.
22. Mindmapping: Take it out of your head and put it on paper. Also read my blog post about mindmapping
23. Use the 2 minute rule: If something comes up, decide if you put it in 2min. can do/complete. And if so, do it! And if you don’t, you’re going to have to plan it as a task somewhere. Maybe where you were able to finish a task from your schedule faster, leaving you with time.
24. Stay away from Social Media. Social Media can be hugely time consuming.
25. Don’t watch TV. Like Social Media, the TV is a lot of fun. However, it is a distracting way, which makes you take longer to do your tasks. You should plan the time for this.
26. Turn off your notifications. This has helped me enormously to stay in charge of my own mobile phone. It doesn’t trigger to look at your phone quickly every time.
27. Take breaks. Very important to recharge yourself!
28. Schedule margins in your schedule. Give your time blocks of tasks a little more time to get some time off to go to the toilet, for example. Or get a drink. but also very important if you need to get rid of your screen. To rest your eyes.
29. Automate your tasks. Simple example is direct debits for your monthly bills. Saves you time in a task.
30. Order your to do list: place in categories. And in order of importance. Etc.
31. Keep your workplace and house in order. This is to give yourself a quiet environment. But also to not face the fact that you still have to do all kinds of work in the house.
32. Get plenty of sleep: I should actually put it at the top. A rested person can handle so much more than someone who is tired.
33. Listen to music. Music can be a very good way to get a positive mood and atmosphere in the home. For me, it helps to play some quieter music while working. I’ve noticed that children also respond very well to music. And if they’re a little busy, quiet music is a really good one to calm them down.
34. Make healthy choices: In nutrition but also lifestyle. Choose things that are good for you and your body.
35. Review your week: Look at the things you’ve done and finished by the end of the week. This motivates you to see what you have achieved. And gives you strength and courage again for the week ahead.
