Hello dear readers,
This morning I woke up with a song in my mind. Jimmy Needham – Unfailing Love. I have times that I wake up and my spirit is singing. When I give it further notice I most of the time realize that the lyrics are something God wants to tell. The bible says that the spirit never sleeps. So although we are sleeping, the spirit is not.
So this song brought me to tears last night. Yesterday was Thanksgiving. And although we do not celebrate the holiday in our country, the Netherlands. I still was thinking about things to be thankful for. I was not in the most brightful mood. Have some emotional stuff to get through so I made warm milk, squeezed a bit of honey in it and went to my bedroom to read the bible. Most of the time when I feel like that, I speak, pray and decree the Word of God. Which is the bible. I speak out loud, so my ears can pick up the words.
I have a favorite passage, which is Isaiah 54. I read it as a decree. I will explain later more about what decreeing is. You know: the what, the why, the how. But for now let’s stick to the story of Unfailing Love. While I was reading Isaiah 54 I read this verse:
Now let me tell you another story. 10 Years ago I got married. And with the wedding ceremony there is one where you both have a candle and you light up 1 candle. This is the part of 2 becoming 1. And right after lighting up our 1 candle to unify our lives. The band starts playing “Unfailing Love”.
This is the song that my husband chose for our wedding. And it still, 10 years later, gives me heart-eyes and a warm feeling.
Ok so back to my bible reading yesterday. I have read Isaiah 54 like a million time. And never noticed that it is exact the same lyrics as the song. I noticed because I looked up the lyrics in a different translation on my bible app on the phone.
My bible says: “My Kindness” while other translations says “My Unfailing Love”. Can you imagine 10 years later discovering that the love song my husband chose is not only a beautiful love song. But a love song from God to us, with the lyrics straight out of the bible! And with us, I mean you and me.
God sings His Love over us
CHORUS My unfailing love for you will not be moved For you will not be moved My unfailing love for you And though the mountains be shaken And the hills be removed Yet my unfailing love for you.
So when I heard the song from that perspective, my heart immediatly filled with His Love. It felt like God came to cover me with a warm blanket. And if you know me well. I absolutely love a warm blanket, hot water bottle and a chai latte with cinnamon. All that warm and cosy stuff for the cold and dark winter days.
So what I want to highlight here is that there is a God who has an Unfailing Love for us. And He calls us to be His bride. The songs sings: “be my wife”. It is God who call us to me His wife. I read Isaiah 54:5
For your Maker is your husband
the Lord Almighty is his name
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Ephesians 5:25-27
God is calling you to be His bride
Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God. Revelation 19:7-9
Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb
If you want to know Him better. I would like to invite you to pray this what they called the Sinner’s prayer with me.
He wants to have convenant with you
I would call it as.. the prayer to come back to you Maker and meet the One who loves you.
Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sin has separated my life from you. I am truly sorry. And now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life.
– In Jesus’name I pray, Amen –
